MISSION
Create a thematic photograph collection for a final presentation.
CHALLENGE
Midway through the photo-shoot, the photos spoke to me about how much destruction the landscape had suffered over the last century. Disenfranchised, I had to rethink my theme.
RESULT
The 10-photograph collection speaks to agroecology* and to our environment’s resilience to homeostasis. Flocks of geese sit in front of the newly installed wind turbines where less than a decade ago, no birds would roost. The immense agricultural equipment and technology is dwarfed by the large expanse of the surrounding land. Equally as treacherous is nature who at a moment’s notice will deliver unpredictable ravages leaving a new landscape in its wake. To this point, several pictures were taken the day after the windstorm of Friday, November 1st, 2019. Contrast the pear tree, which was taken down by the windstorm, to the one in full bloom. The stump remains after a lightning strike years ago. In 2005, a forest of trees was felled and replaced with the silo installation.
