Concordia University has re-invented its personality and has become a next-generation university. With its core values of excellence, opportunity and quality of life Concordia University is forging ahead with the Next-Gen Now campaign to align learning with society’s important challenges.
Five broad categories of learning, discovery, engagement, innovation and spaces collaborate to use technology with losing humanity to meet today’s challenges. The learning pillar proposes to “disrupt the traditional classroom” with innovative teaching such as “face-to-face interaction, blended learning flipped classrooms and eLearning” offering open, flexible, experiential and lifelong learning. The discovery pillar is about “dynamic knowledge-creation across disciplines”. Engagement is about “bringing our insight, understanding, expertise and commitment to the public”. Innovation promotes “novel approaches, judicious risk-taking and purposeful experimentation”. The spaces purpose is to use the buildings to foster multidisciplinary collaboration.
I have witnessed firsthand the student life as an undergrad at Concordia University and am confident that these words have a deep meaning. Similarly, I am re-invented and share these same values and am prepared to participate in the Next-Gen Now program. To this end I invite you to take a closer look at Concordia University at: https://www.concordia.ca/next-gen.html .
